Founding Artistic Director
Born and raised in Vancouver, Michael Grice is a graduate of the School Of Music, University of British Columbia, where he majored in both instrumental and vocal studies. His performance and conducting background includes extensive experience in concert and jazz bands, and various church, school, jazz and community choral ensembles, including being a charter member of the world-famous Chor Leoni Men’s Choir. As an educator, Mr. Grice was the Music Director at Centennial School, (Coquitlam) for twelve years, where his instrumental and choral ensembles were recognized at both the provincial and national levels for their outstanding performances. He served as the Program Coordinator, Fine Arts, (Visual and Performing Arts), for School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) for eight years, where he acted as a resourceperson for teachers and students, and was responsible for curriculum development and implementation for Drama, Music, and Visual Arts in 62 schools.
Mr. Grice has adjudicated extensively throughout British Columbia and the Yukon and has been active in workshops in both choral and instrumental conducting, repertoire and technique. In addition to his educational activities, Mr. Grice was also Chair of the Band & Choir Division of the Coquitlam District Music Festival; he was active as a member and Chairman of the B.C. Administrators of Arts Education, the Pacific Coast Music Festivals Association, the B.C. Choral Federation, and acted as Coordinator of the Singers Symposium of the World
